About

I'm the User Experience Lead with the Tribune Company in Chicago, Illinois. I like to make things look good, work well and get pats on the back. I dislike poorly designed websites, logos and anything else that can be considered "eye bleach".

I started out as a journalist, writing about football and basketball among other things. Then I shifted into designing newspapers. After entering a contest, I was invited to attend the annual Society of News Design conference in Orlando in 2006. I was selected as one of the top 10 student newspaper designers in the country.

From that, I began making connections and was offered a job in Phoenix, working for The Arizona Republic. While there, I began working with clients for my small business, 5M Studios, on the side. I started off with 3 clients, and soon began to grow.

After two and a half years in the desert, my wife, Chelsea, and I decided it was time for change, and we moved to Chicago. I went to work for the Tribune, and began expanding my company along with branching off to form 5M Sports, which currently has 25 clients.
